Genem

Genem is used to treat skin and abdominal (stomach area) infections caused by bacteria and meningitis (infection of the membranes that surround the brain and spinal cord) in adults and children.

Description

GENEM INJECTION

The anti-bacterial component of GENEM is Meropenem, a carbapenem. Meropenem is indicated for the treatment of the following infections in adults and children over 3 months of age.
A dose of up to 2 g three times daily in adults and adolescents and a dose of up to 40 mg/kg three times daily in children may be particularly appropriate.

Composition

Each vial of GENEM 0.5 G contains:
Sterile Meropenem Trihydrate USP equivalent to
Anhydrous Meropenem ………………………… 500 mg
Sterile Sodium Carbonate USP equivalent to
Sodium ………………………….……………… 45.1 mg

Each vial of GENEM 1 G contains:
Sterile Meropenem Trihydrate USP equivalent to
Anhydrous Meropenem ………………………… 1 g
Sterile Sodium Carbonate USP equivalent to
Sodium ………………………….…………… 90.2 g

Indications:
Genem (Meropenem) is indicated for the treatment of the following infections in adults and children over 3 months of age:

  • Severe pneumonia, including hospital and ventilator-associated pneumonia
  • Broncho-pulmonary infections in cystic fibrosis
  • Complicated urinary tract infections
  • Complicated intra-abdominal infections
  • Intra- and post-partum infections
  • Complicated skin and soft tissue infections
  • Acute bacterial meningitis

METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION:
After Reconstitution, Genem (Meropenem) is administered by Intravenous bolus injection within three hours following reconstitution or Intravenous infusion administration within one hour following reconstitution.

1 vial of Genem 0.5 g/ 1 g (Dry powder for injection)

SHELF LIFE
30 months from the date of manufacturing.
